September 14, 2013
Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve
The AnnualOld Grove Festival takes place at the historic Redwood Forest Theater in Armstrong Redwoods SNR. This beautiful open-air theatre was built in the 1930s. The Old Grove Festival features an outstanding variety of musical and theatrical productions that help Stewards raise funds to support our educational and stewardship programs, as well as, continued advocacy for ALL State Parks.

Alexander Nelson - (Jackie Green's younger brother) Acclaimed California singer/songwriter and guitarist, Alexander Nelson, 24, established Walking Spanish as the band’s front man when he was a teenager. “…Nelson’s almost-British Isles romantic sensibility aligns with Americana instrumentation. Mix in his keening, Western United States savored articulation, and the band’s ability to give dramatic surge, this music raises the bar in Sacramento.”

He is climbing the Americana and Roots Music Charts and he is heading out on a nationwide tour with his band!
Jim n Kathy Ocean
“Ocean consistently skewers modern life in the USA. The songs are smart, as well as clever, but avoid the novelty stance of going for cheap laughs. Instead, they get under the skin of contemporary facades and relationships. Music for our times”

DAN HICKS AND THE HOT LICKS
Singer-songwriter Dan Hicks is truly an American original. Since the early 1960s, Hicks has deftly blended elements of Swing, Jazz, Folk and Country music to create the appealing sound he sometimes calls "Folk Jazz".
The lyrics of his songs range from the simply sublime to the sublimely ridiculous, all presented with his uniquely skewed and inscrutable touch.
Dan's irresistible sense of rhythm, hip lyrical styling, laid-back vocalizing, and infamous on-stage wit will make most who listen fans for life. He's a snappy dresser, too.
Solid Air is a music group based north of San Francisco, led by co-founders Allegra Broughton (vocals, guitar), an Sam Page (vocals, bass, baritone slide guitar), native Californians who have been performing their blend of rootsy originals and eclectic covers together for over twenty years at fairs, festivals, clubs, concert stages and coffeehouses. They have eight albums, including the excellent Grammy-nominated CD Solid Air: Allegra Broughton & Sam Page, Jackalope Records (Aug. 2007)
The Mighty Chiplings The Mighty Chiplings began as a solo venture on the streets of Sebastopol. Marshall Thiessen and his banjo were soon joined by twin brother David on mandolin, a close friend Jesse Fichman on guitar, and last but not least another buddy Adrian Shader on the fiddle. A local legend, Chip Dunbar, coached the rowdy 11 year olds into the makings of a band. When Chip unexpectedly passed away, the name he dubbed them with stuck in memorial and the Mighty Chiplings were born.
Gordon and D'Orazi When the talents of two accomplished performers "collide", the outcome can certainly be fantastic! The blending of Vikki's and Robby's natural musicianship "clicked" like magic and they started creating unique tunes in an effortless manner. The songs you will hear are mostly originals presented in the Folk, Country, Blues, Rock, Pop and other unique styles.
